Kruger to Phinda Beach to Bush Safari

uhambo lwezilwane (The Animal Journey)
(Ooo-ham-bow Lwe-zil-wah-neh)
Kruger Park is world renowned, but Phinda is a reserve some people have never heard of, until now. In truth, Phinda is as good as Kruger, albeit a lot smaller. Combined, we call this safari “the animal journey” because that’s exactly what it is. Besides the Big 5 and various animals like giraffe and zebra, you may also encounter whales, dolphins and turtles when you chillax in the sun on a private beach on the Indian Ocean. It is one of our best-kept secrets, but feel free to spread the word!
PLAN YOUR JOURNEY
This unforgettable journey is a favourite safari with guests from all over this beautiful globe of ours and showcases just a few of our favourite experiences. It can be changed or bits used to create your own bespoke safari, either for your partner, family, group of friends or as a gift.
Days 1-3: Remoteness and Tranquility
At a local airport, meet your experienced guide who will transfer you privately to Kruger National Park for the start of your safari. Transfers from Johannesburg can be arranged on request.
Enjoy 3 nights out in this awesome wilderness area! We do not guarantee the big 5, although all are well represented in the area. Instead, we guarantee you an opportunity to see a variety of animals in a 5-million-acre wilderness. It is a chance to experience nature at its very best without crowds and be able to live in the moment with mother nature keeping you wrapped around her finger.
Depending on your budget and time frame, getting to Phinda is up to you. We can plan a flight for you directly to Phinda airstrip or a local flight to Ballito, where you spend the night at a small guest house on the beach before travelling to Phinda by road the very next day. This would thus make the safari an 8-day trip.
Days 4-6: A Story of The Zulu Kingdom
With its seven distinct habitats, Phinda Private Game Reserve is often described as ‘Seven Worlds of Wonder’, a magnificent tapestry of woodland, grassland, wetland and forest, interspersed with mountain ranges, rivers, marshes and pans… What brings it all together is the warmth and expertise of the local Zulu people who will be guiding and looking after you.
Depending on the weather during your stay, your guide will take you on a half-day excursion to the beach to enjoy some relaxing in the sun and snorkelling on a reef. This is built around your game drives as well, so you do not miss a minute of action.
Between November and February, night time excursions can also be planned to go and assist with research teams monitoring turtles laying their eggs on the beach.
Day 7: End of your Beach to Bush Vacation
After a game drive and a relaxed breakfast, your safari sadly comes to an end. A transfer will be waiting to take you back to a local airport.
This safari can also be extended or act as an add-on to any of our other awesome safaris below.
