Botswana Safari Adventure

Day 1: Travel Day

Meet your guide and host in Johannesburg. From there you travel to Botswana via a flight to Maun. It is from Maun that you then catch a charter flight which will take you into the Okavango Delta. The delta is breathtaking and boasts some of Africa’s best game viewing! With Moriti, all activities in the delta are guided, hosted and private. This ensures you get the best attention and game viewing opportunities. After a game drive, you head to your lodge and enjoy your first night under, what seems like a million stars

  • All internal flights included
  • 4 star tented lodge in the Okavango Delta
  • Lunch and dinner are included. All dietary requirements can be catered to
  • All big game including lion, leopard, buffalo and elephant are well represented

Days 2-?: Okavango Delta

We suggest at least 3 nights at each lodge in this awesome wilderness area. Depending on the time of year, there are water camps and land-based camps which offer different activities. Moriti will spread you out at these camps. Each day you will enjoy guided activities. Boat safaris, open vehicle game drives, dug-out canoe adventures, fishing, walking… It is just another tough day in Africa out there. Mixed in with luxurious accommodation and excellent guiding and service, it is a winning recipe for a great safari. We will plan this section of the safari with your time and budget in mind

Add-On: The Kalahari

The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is a magnificent place! There are animals here that you don’t see anywhere else and it is the perfect place to go to after the delta. It is huge; over 13 million acres and is the second largest game reserve in the world.  The land is flat, and undulating covered with bush and grasses covering the sand dunes. It is a serious adventure to go out there and look for the animals that call the Kalahari home. It is a unique experience to be out in such a massive wilderness area. With gorgeous accommodation and the chance to meet the San Bushman, this is a great add-on. We highly recommend this

How is Moriti different?

The difference between Moriti and the other operators you will find online is simple … we want to make your safari special and unforgettable. Shaun keeps his business small and only takes a maximum of 12 safaris per year. This is done to ensure quality every step of the way. Shaun guides all the safaris personally, so you are in good hands in terms of both guiding and hosting

What is a private safari?

A private safari is exactly that, private. Shaun decided to specialise in private safaris because it lifts the experience to a different level. Everything from the guide, to the accommodation, to the food, to the game viewing. Everything that makes a safari special is magnified on our safaris. The safari thus becomes about you and your family. If you are going to spend the money to come to Africa, do it properly

How is the game viewing different?

Due to this being a private safari, your game viewing activities are all private as well. This means you get the guide and at times, a tracker all to yourself. How is this beneficial? Well, it means you get a very well qualified and passionate guide who will look for the animals and plants you want to see. There are no other guests with you on the activities to worry about and you can get that preferential treatment that often lacks on a normal safari

Aren't private safaris expensive?

It comes down to one simple notion, you pay for what you get. However, we fall somewhere in the middle of that. Due to the kind of experience we provide, it comes down to the size of your family or group of friends. Obviously, the less amount of people means the less the cost is shared out equally. Shaun wants everyone to experience his love for nature. As a private safari goes, we can confidently say we are cost effective and over deliver. However, all our tours are tailor-made so if you cannot quite make it financially, we can help without compromising the quality we are well known for

Have a special request for the safari?

This is exactly what we want to hear! Due to the privacy of our safaris, we can really spoil you. Anything from photographic tutorage to special birthdays or events and even yoga retreats, we can organise this. If you have something special in mind, let us know and we will try and make it work

Do you give back to the environment?

Moriti work closely with Wilderness Safaris who have conservation projects all over Africa. Our safaris out of South Africa always provide donations to these efforts so you can make a difference while living the African dream. Within South Africa, Shaun is very big on using as little plastic and being as conservation minded as possible. Any of the private lodges that are used on your safari in South Africa also provide a conservation fee. This fee is taken and given straight to the reserve for use in anti-poaching efforts etc.

If you choose, you can also give a donation and will be kept in the loop as to what your money went towards

Food and drink?

Food and drink play a huge role on a safari. Our chefs often find the lasting blend between old-world tradition and modern culinary influence. The sense of wilderness isn’t interrupted as you dine beneath the stars, a fire crackling and nocturnal animals calling and moving around. Menus are unique, blending local ingredients. Sometimes those you won’t find served anywhere else in the world. Each lodge will also have a well-stocked bar, or your guide will assist you to buy our own drinks. South Africans are well known for their hospitality, you are in good hands

Hygiene and comfort?

Sometimes it’s hard to picture. You’re heading deep into the bush, miles from a tarred road or town. Is there going to be running water, clean facilities and a hot shower in such remote wilderness? Rest assured that each lodge has clean water and varied amenities. All will have a hot shower / bath and a clean, flushing toilet with all the comforts of home. Moriti have you covered, unless you enjoy wallowing in the mud with the buffalo, that is

Travel?

All our safaris are guided and hosted. Travel arrangements will always be arranged by your guide. You will always receive a full, interactive itinerary before each safari. If you need more info, Shaun is always at hand to assist
